Nice to meet you, Mr. Sutton

2 min read

Wow! I’ve had Sutton for 2 years, and I realized I haven’t once introduced him on the blog! So here’s his grand welcome!

What’s the story behind his name?

Ha! I am OBSESSED with Sutton Stracke from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

I had to choose between a few names and my final two were Rex or Sutton. When I saw him as a pup and just reallllllly looked at him, the vibe was not giving, Rex… it was definitely Sutton, and that’s how it came to be. He also had an identical twin in the litter, and honestly that dog was giving me Rex vibes LOL so I went with the other, mellow looking pup who could clearly not give two fucks whether I decided to bring him home or not.

What’s his personality like?

Funny enough, Sutton runs the house. Everything revolves around him and his acid reflux, separation anxiety, and overall clinginess. He loves to play tug, he doesn’t allow shoes or socks in his home, and he is SUPER cuddly. He doesn’t bark at all because I trained him from a puppy with a bark correction collar, and he’s starting to come into his feelings of alpha. Some days we joke online about how he’s someone’s reincarnated grandpa because he is extremely particular about his food, treats, and routines.

What’s Sutton’s breed?

He’s a mini poodle mix!

Any funny or unique habits that make you smile?

He is my sous chef. When I cook dinner he positions himself on the couch or diagonal to the stove to see every single thing I do as I cook. It makes me feel so much pressure, it’s so funny, but I also love it so much. He also LOOOOOVES to have bacon at least once a week, and I usually make it biweekly as a little treat. He also loves to sit on the patio in the sun and look down and watch everyone coming by or even in the window on cooler days to see what’s going on.

Favorite bonding activity?

I love taking him on city adventures or to the beach. Living in California really has its perks because people take their dogs………. EVERYWHERE. Sutton likes to sleep on the couch at home so I bypass taking him on the patios for dinner or brunch (although, when we are on vacation he does get to go). In the rare times that I do take him out and about, I love doing things in the city and also letting him run free on the beach.

So, that’s all I’ll share about my little, who I also call my SON! lol! Let me know if you want to see more of him around on the blog!
