With Love, F*ck Anxiety

2 min read

Cheers to an old friend, or nah? It’s been quite a while since I’ve had multiple back to back encounters with anxiety. But so many things are changing around me, miss thing has returned, but left the vengence at home.

When I find myself grappling with anxiety, it’s important to remind myself that the only thing that matters or exists is the current moment I am in. The moments in the past, I can’t go back and change so there’s no need to ruminate or obsess about those, and to really focus on the current moment. When I focus on future moments, I’m really just day dreaming on futurecasting, because even those moments don’t always come to fruition.

The best thing to do is to focus on the current moment I’m in. Ultimately, it’s a practice of mindfullness. Because you’re present in the moment, soaking in what you see, feel and experience in that moment without judgement.

I also encourage myself to honor my emotions, when I’m feeling anxious. It’s silly to be afraid to express your emotions, and the emotional unavailability of society today really triggers my anxiety, a lot. I don’t know where we all fell off to the point that having emotions is a bad thing, or feeling a way about someone is weird but it definitely sucks that we’re in a heightened emotionless/disconnected society. We are allowed to feel things, get our feelings hurt, care about people, only want to be around certain people, or to not be around people. Our feelings, emotions, how we make others feel and how others make us feel is 100% valid.

Perception, is truly the key to peace.
