Hey there! I’m Alicia Renee, the woman behind Lo In The City. If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re on a journey – a journey of self-discovery, of seeking deeper peace & of learning to truly put yourself first. You’re in the right place.

For a long time, I navigated life feeling like I constantly had to be “on,” always pushing & achieving. The world often tells us, especially as Black women, that our worth is tied to our output, to how much we pour into others. But I learned, sometimes the hard way, that true strength comes from within, from knowing your boundaries, trusting your voice & embracing the beauty of simply being okay.
Lo In The City isn’t just a blog; it’s where I share the real, raw experiences of navigating that path. It’s where I unpack what it means to:
- Claim Your Space with Boundaries: This isn’t about being rigid; it’s about honoring your energy and demanding the reciprocity you deserve in every relationship – with friends, family, and even yourself. It’s about learning to say “no” without guilt and “yes” only when it truly feels right.
- Trust Your Intuition, Finally: We get so much external noise, so many opinions. This space is about sharing how I learned to quiet that noise and lean into my own wisdom, even when it feels scary. It’s about the liberating power of believing in yourself.
- Find Peace in the Everyday: Whether it’s finding unexpected joy in a floral arrangement class, learning to sit with stillness, or simply recognizing that not every moment needs to be a grand leap forward. It’s about cultivating calm amidst the chaos and embracing where you are, right now.
- Live Authentically, No Filter: This isn’t a highlight reel. This is where I share the wins, the lessons, and the quiet moments of realization. It’s a space built on vulnerability, where we can connect over the shared experience of just trying to figure it all out, especially as Black women navigating our unique paths.
This isn’t just my story; it’s a shared journey. If you’re a Black woman looking for a space that understands your unique experiences, encourages your growth, and champions your right to peace, you’ve found your community.
