No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man Exhibition

Posted by Alicia Williams on

I first fell in love with Burning Man after learning of it my junior year of college at Miami University, in my religion course. We read about the ceremonious aspect of the festival and how it was guided by the 10 Principles: Radical Inclusion, Gifting, Decommodification, Radical Self-Reliance, Radical Self-Expression, Communal Effort, Civic Responsibility, Leaving no Trace, Participation, and Immediacy.
I instantly was amazed by the spiritual aspect and the self accountability of the event, and the overall messaging of healing and releasing the weight and burdens and disappearing without a trace leaving all your cares and worries behind as you return to your life renewed.
When I heard about the exhibit opening at the Cincinnati Art Museum, I knew I had to come see it for myself. The exhibit runs through September and the admission is free.
Check out my favorite instillations from the exhibit below.
